ARANEA PEEL SINGS CLASSIC GERMAN CHANSONS

German songs are evil songs. The german Chanson-classics by Friedrich Hollaender and Brecht-composers Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler have been sung a lot of times. Perhaps too many times. But here, they are lived through without reservations by Aranea Peel – or in other words: Authentically interpreted! This requires lust, spirit, dedication and experience with the dark side of humanity. Aranea Peel melts into the lines as if they were her own. With this devotion in mind, the listeners will surely feel entirely new facets and aspects of the songs develop that allow for an entirely different view on them. An expressive spectrum of different moods that put the listeners under their spell – from sophisticated and egocentric (Ich weiß nicht, zu wem ich gehöre), aggressively lusful (Seeräuberjenny), pseudo-naively grotesque (Ich lass meinen Körper schwarz bepinseln), demonically erotic (Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuß auf Liebe eingestellt) to fragile and honest (Keiner weiß, wie ich bin). All of them fired off, confirmed and then vehemently opposed again by Aranea Peel's vivid personality. Even in the musical accompaniment, nothing was skimped on: A sumptous orchestra backs her up on a consistently high level. The edits and arrangements done by Hans-Jürgen Osmers are equally as expressive and underline the effect of the chansons. This album was a stroke of good fortune – the components were in all the right places.
What this amounted to is genuine art.
